Set in the early 1980s, Stranger Things takes place in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana. Meanwhile, Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will's best friends, decide to look for him on their own. But the investigations eventually lead the group toward the secret experiments of the government and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), a peculiar girl lost in the woods. Like the children, mother Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is determined and will do the impossible to see her son again.

The plot also brings unpublished information about Chucky's past as the killer Charles Lee Ray, from his complicated childhood to adolescence.

The group travels through different places in search of solutions to the problem. Gradually, they realize that the infestation of the dead is greater than they thought, spreading throughout the country, and possibly the rest of the world. The society they knew no longer exists and all that remains is the desire to survive. Amid the chaos of the new world order, Rick and his companions realize that surviving humans can be a greater threat than the zombies themselves.
